Our work spreading awareness about the kids in Virginia who need forever families as well as running our many programs costs money. Although we try our best to work with partners and sponsors to help fund our projects, we don’t always get the funding we need. Donations directly touch youth in foster care through programs like camps and events! With your help we can better the lives of the over 4,100 kids in foster care and we can help the over 850 waiting kids find permanent, loving homes. These children have lived tumultuous lives with maltreatment, trauma, and uncertainty. They deserve any caring, normalcy, and stability that we can give them! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today!
Your support makes it possible to provide foster children birthday bags, holiday events, summer camps, and more!
- Foster2Adopt educational campaign for prospective parents
- “30 Kids in 30 Days” – educational media campaign to show waiting children
- Connecting Hearts acts as a call center which helps prospective parents through the process for 6 months to 2 years
Direct Services for Children in Foster Care
- Birthday Parties for kids in care
- Thanksgiving Day meal
- Holiday Gift events, including gifts for over 200 kids in 2015
- Photo Events to show children in foster care on the state website for prospective parents
- Work program for older youth with financial literacy component
In order for Connecting Hearts to make a difference in our state, we will need all of the help we can get! From all of our ongoing programs to our awareness initiative and events, volunteers are key to our organization. Office and event volunteers are always useful, but if you are interested in getting more deeply involved, we would love to have you! You can see the many ways you can get involved on our “Programs” page! For more information, please contact us at 804.308.5946 or efacetti@ConnectingHeartsVA.org.
Intern with Connecting Hearts
Connecting Hearts is currently looking for dedicated interns to assist with community outreach. If you see a future in non-profits, this is a great way to start. Because Connecting Hearts is a new foundation, you will have a firsthand look into how non-profits operate and will work directly with our Executive Director. Your tasks will be focused on awareness initiatives and are many times self-guided. An interest in foster care and adoption issues, while not required, would greatly benefit your work. Please note: This is an unpaid position, but we are willing to work with your school in order for you to earn credit. If you would like to be considered for this position, please email your resume and cover letter to Ericca Facetti at efacetti@ConnectingHeartsVA.org.
Other Ways to Help
Help our state’s kids by spreading the word! The easiest way to help is to simply spread the word about the need for Foster-to-Adopt parents. To get more involved, consider volunteering at a local organization that supports adoptive and foster families. The ultimate way to help is to become a Foster-to-Adopt parent yourself! If you would like information on how to do this, please feel free to contact us at 804.308.5946 or efacetti@ConnectingHeartsVA.org! Keep up to date with our programs on facebook and twitter!
